Akufo-Addo commissions newly constructed tomato factory in Bono Region


A newly constructed company, African Process Tomato Factory and Agro Farm Company has been commissioned by President Akuffo Addo in the Berekum West District under 1D1F initiative.

The factory has the capacity to process four thousand metric tones of fresh tomatoes every  year.

There are currently 158 employees, which is expected to increase to 350 within six months. It will provide indirect job for over two thousand tomato farmers.

A 30 acres farm and research center have been designed to construct seed trails and train farmers on best farm practices with 2,400 acres farm land to be cultivated as a commercial farm.

He later stopped at Wemfi-Adiemra to inspect the 36.5 kilometers road after paying a courtesy call on the Wemfi Traditional Council.

The Bono Manager of Feeder Road, Mr James Oppong said the feeder road is constructed in two phases with alternative routes linking Sunyani to the Ahafo Region.

Mr Oppong continued that the first phase started in September 2020 estimated cost of GH25.3 million and it is expected to be completed in December 2022. The second phase of the project started in January 2021, estimated cost of GH21.3 million and is expected to be completed in January 2022.
