Relative calm has return to Kwabre town of Ntonso in the Ashanti Region after some youth group clashed in the community on July 5, 2021.
A group of people from a popular drinking spot in the outskirts of the town are said to have locked some shops and homes in the community at dawn.
Angered by the incidence, some youth attacked various establishments owned by persons from the zongo area who were suspected to be behind the attack.
In Ntonso, the situation was different as police were deployed from both Nkyiaeso and regional police headquarters. This provided enough security and gave assurance to the populace.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Kwasi Mensah Duku said, “Police will be deployed in the community to continue their operations providing security in the town.”
Curfew is currently in place and instructions has been given to some particular drinking spot not to operate after 10pm.
Furthermore, limited number of residents would be allowed outside after 8pm by then the police surveillance will be operating to maintain peace and order in the community.
