Confess if you know you have eaten from the fishes washed ashore – Hawa Koomson appeals

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson called on residents of Osu and surrounding, who have eaten of the fishes that were washed ashore, should voice out in other to receive medical checks that would save them from unforeseen health implications.

The minister made this known on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, during a media engagement with the fishermen of the area.

She stated that; “I want to use this opportunity to plead with the community – if anyone has taken or consumed the fish please own up, so we can address any problems that may arise out of the consumption.

“Please cooperate with us and own up, so we can monitor you to know your health situation. If there are some in the market, please let us withdraw them. We are doing our best to know what caused that situation,” she appealed.

Last Friday, April 2, some fish were washed up to the Osu Coast near Osu Castle Beach.

Two days after, on Axim-Bewire Beach in Nzema East Municipality, about 80 species of mammals believed to be melon-headed whales washed ashore.
