ENDSARS: UK Parliament to debate possible sanctions against Nigerian Government

The UK parliament has indicated it will be debating on the possibility to impose sanctions against the Nigerian government and officials. This decision came after a petition, which was started on the government website, gathered over 200,000 signatures.

The petition started by Silas Ojo, asked for action to be taken following the Nigerian government’s crackdown on #EndSars protesters.

According to the petition, the UK government should take action “to impose sanctions on members of the Nigerian government and police force involved in any human rights abuses by the Nigerian police.”

The debate is scheduled to take place on 23rd November 2020 at the UK House of Commons.
