A young man who was arrested for possessing weapons boldly told the police command that he was coming from a shrine after going through spiritual support at Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Everyone around was surprised at the confession that was given by the young man being arrested with heavy ammunition in his Toyota vehicle.
Upon investigating done by GhanaTalksRadio, Ebenezer Osei, the said victim, was returning from Alavanyo with his friend, Laryen Nervis, after allegedly going to seek spiritual assistance from one of the powerful shrines in the area.
On their way from the shrine, they met another person, Muntaka Muhammad, on the road and offered him a lift.
They eventually met the police, who stopped their vehicle and mounted a massive search, only to discover that heavy weapons, several foreign pistols, over twenty brand new mobile phones, and many others were retrieved from the vehicle.
Where these three persons were conveying the ammunition to is currently unknown but the one who was offered a lift, Muntaka Muhammad, confirmed procuring the ammunition and mobile phones from another person at Alavanyo in the same region.
It is becoming difficult to believe because when the two offered the third suspect lift whilst returning from the shrine, he had the weapons with him but they still went ahead to provide him a space in the car.
Even though the police are investigating the issue, our thoughts suggest that the three might be carrying the weapons to whatever plans they had.
Also, it could be that the suspect who was coming from the shrine and his friend were just trying to be good samaritan but the unfortunate happened.
They have been remanded after they appeared before the Ho Magistrate court.
If found guilty, they can be thrown to jail for possessing weapons illegally.
