Adenta Kumi vows to revitalise NPP youth wing ahead of 2028

A contender for the position of National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adenta Kumi, has vowed to work tirelessly to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and help position the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to party supporters, Mr Kumi said the NPP must learn from the challenges it faced during the 2024 elections and build a stronger and more united organisation ahead of the next election.

He stressed that the NPP of 2028 would be different from the party that contested the 2024 elections, promising a more active and responsive youth wing capable of engaging directly with party members across the country.

Mr Kumi also issued a strong warning against any acts of violence, intimidation or interference with electoral processes, saying the party would not allow what he described as incidents involving the alleged disruption of voting and attacks on some NPP candidates during the previous election to be repeated.

He, however, maintained that his ultimate goal was to serve Ghana and contribute to the NPP’s efforts to win the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to him, if elected National Youth Organiser, he would adopt a grassroots-focused approach rather than operate mainly from the national office.

“I’m not going to be a National Youth Organiser who sits in the office and work,” he said, explaining that he intends to spend at least two nights in every constituency to understand the challenges facing party members and strengthen relationships with grassroots supporters.

Mr Kumi said his ambition was not simply to occupy a position but to create meaningful change within the party and make the NPP more attractive to young people.

He further pledged to support young party members and help build a stronger youth base capable of contributing significantly to the party’s organisational development.

“There’s room for improvement,” he said, emphasising the need for renewed energy and commitment within the party.

Mr Kumi also expressed confidence that the NPP could recover from its setbacks, describing himself as part of a new generation determined to awaken and mobilise the party’s grassroots ahead of 2028.

He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to supporting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid and working to increase the NPP’s parliamentary representation.
