The Bank of Ghana has released its Ghana Gold Coin pricing for Friday, August 21, 2026, with the value of the coins varying according to their gold weight.
According to the published figures, a 0.25-ounce Ghana Gold Coin is priced at GH¢13,422.61, while the 0.50-ounce coin is priced at GH¢26,101.65.
The one-ounce Ghana Gold Coin has been priced at GH¢51,504.79.
The pricing reflects the value of gold in relation to the international gold market and the prevailing exchange rate. The Bank of Ghana’s publication also indicates that the LBMA PM price from the previous day’s close stood at US$4,482.95, while the Bloomberg REGN USDGHS rate for the previous day’s close was 11.1000.
The Ghana Gold Coin has emerged as an investment and savings instrument, offering individuals an avenue to hold an asset whose value is linked to gold.
The different denominations allow prospective buyers to choose according to their financial capacity and investment objectives. The one-ounce coin, for instance, carries a substantially higher price because it contains more gold than the quarter-ounce and half-ounce options.
As gold prices and exchange rates change, the cedi value of the Ghana Gold Coin can also change. Investors and members of the public therefore need to pay attention to official pricing information when considering transactions involving the coins.
Ghana Gold Coin Prices Rise with Global Gold and Exchange Rate Factors
The Bank of Ghana has published new prices for the Ghana Gold Coin, with the one-ounce denomination valued at more than GH¢51,000 as of Friday, August 21, 2026.
The latest pricing puts the 0.25-ounce coin at GH¢13,422.61, the 0.50-ounce coin at GH¢26,101.65 and the 1.00-ounce coin at GH¢51,504.79.
The figures highlight the relationship between the local price of gold and developments in international gold markets and the foreign exchange market. The Bank of Ghana noted that the LBMA PM gold price at the previous day’s close was US$4,482.95, while the Bloomberg REGN USDGHS rate stood at 11.1000.
The pricing system means that the cedi value of the gold coins is influenced by movements in both the international price of gold and the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Ghana cedi.
For potential investors, the three available weights provide different entry points. A person looking for a smaller denomination can consider the 0.25-ounce coin, while those seeking a larger gold holding can opt for the half-ounce or one-ounce denomination.
The latest figures also underscore the importance of checking official prices before buying or selling Ghana Gold Coins, as their value can change in response to movements in global gold prices and exchange rates.
The Bank of Ghana’s published figures therefore give the public a clear indication of the official pricing for the three denominations for Friday, August 21, 2026.
