Bawumia engages nurses and midwives on future of healthcare

Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has engaged the national executives of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) to gather critical policy inputs on the future direction of healthcare in Ghana.

The meeting focused on practical measures to strengthen the country’s healthcare system, with particular attention to healthcare education, infrastructure development and the welfare of frontline health professionals.

Discussions also explored sustainable ways of improving the working conditions of nurses and midwives, who remain at the centre of healthcare delivery across the country.

Dr. Bawumia’s engagement with the association forms part of efforts to listen to key stakeholders and incorporate professional perspectives into policies aimed at improving healthcare outcomes.

The discussions highlighted the importance of investing in quality health education, expanding and upgrading health infrastructure, and creating a supportive working environment for health workers.

The engagement is expected to contribute to ongoing conversations on how Ghana can build a stronger, more accessible and sustainable healthcare system while improving the conditions of those responsible for delivering essential services to patients.
