ECG Announces Power Outages Across Several Areas Today for Maintenance

Residents in several parts of Ghana are expected to experience temporary power interruptions today, Wednesday, September 2, as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) carries out planned maintenance works.

The exercise is expected to affect selected communities in parts of Accra, Tema, the Ashanti Region and other areas.

ECG says the planned interruptions are necessary to enable engineers to undertake maintenance and network improvement works aimed at strengthening electricity supply and improving service delivery.

The company has published schedules indicating the affected areas and expected periods of interruption.

In the Central Region, for instance, some communities in and around Winneba and Gomoa are scheduled to experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Residents and businesses in affected communities have therefore been encouraged to take the necessary precautions and plan their activities around the scheduled outages.

The maintenance exercise forms part of ECG’s ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of its distribution network.

ECG has also urged members of the public to exercise caution around electrical infrastructure, particularly during periods of rain. The company warns that fallen or sagging electrical conductors can be extremely dangerous.

Customers who encounter localised faults or fallen conductors have been advised to report them to ECG through its customer service channels.
