Fuel Prices Set to Rise From September 1 as Petrol Could Hit GH¢16.21

Motorists and consumers across Ghana are bracing for another increase in fuel prices, with the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) projecting a marginal rise at the pumps from Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

According to COPEC, petrol could rise to about GH¢16.21 per litre, while diesel is projected to reach approximately GH¢17.61 per litre. The expected adjustment follows movements in international petroleum prices and changes in the local pricing environment.

The projected increase is likely to put additional pressure on motorists, commercial drivers and businesses that depend heavily on fuel for transportation and daily operations.

For ordinary consumers, changes in fuel prices often extend beyond the filling station. Higher fuel costs can contribute to increased transport fares and raise the cost of moving goods and services from one location to another.

Commercial drivers and transport operators may therefore face renewed pressure as they adjust to the latest prices, while commuters could also feel the impact if transport operators pass additional costs on to passengers.

The development comes at a time when fuel prices remain a major concern for households and businesses, with many closely monitoring movements at the pumps.

COPEC has continued to provide projections on fuel prices to help consumers and industry players anticipate changes in the downstream petroleum sector.

The final prices consumers pay, however, depend on the applicable pricing decisions and adjustments by petroleum marketing companies.

With the new pricing window beginning on September 1, motorists are expected to watch the pumps closely as the projected increase takes effect.
