Gender Minister commends marry right Ghana for launching marrify verification platform

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has commended Marry Right Ghana for launching Marrify, a publicly searchable platform designed to help couples and the general public verify whether marriage venues, churches, pastors and Imams are duly licensed and registered in Ghana.

The initiative is aimed at promoting transparency and protecting individuals from entering into marriages that may not have the necessary legal recognition.

Speaking on the importance of the platform, Dr Lartey welcomed the introduction of Marrify, describing it as a timely intervention that could help prospective couples make informed decisions before proceeding with their marriage ceremonies.

The platform allows members of the public to search and verify information relating to marriage officiants and venues, potentially reducing the risk of couples falling victim to unlicensed individuals or institutions.

The launch comes amid growing concerns about the legality and registration of marriages conducted by some religious leaders and at various venues across the country.

Marry Right Ghana says Marrify is intended to make the verification process easier and more accessible to the public by providing a central platform where relevant information can be checked.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to greater accountability among marriage officiants while encouraging couples to undertake the necessary checks before their wedding ceremonies.

Dr Lartey’s endorsement highlights the government’s interest in initiatives that strengthen the protection of families and promote compliance with Ghana’s marriage laws.

With Marrify now available for public use, couples are being encouraged to verify their chosen marriage venue and officiant to ensure that their union meets the necessary legal requirements.
