GoldBod rejects GH¢1 billion overdraft allegation

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has strongly rejected claims that it owes the Bank of Ghana (BoG) an outstanding overdraft of GH¢1 billion.

The institution said the allegation, attributed to Tano North Member of Parliament Dr. Gideon Boako, is false and forms part of what it describes as a deliberate attempt to discredit GoldBod.

In a statement, GoldBod maintained that since its establishment, it has never obtained a loan, overdraft or any other debt facility from the Bank of Ghana or any financial institution.

The GoldBod described the claim as misleading and urged the public to disregard it.

The institution has also called on Dr. Boako to withdraw the allegation and apologise for what it considers to be the publication of inaccurate information about its financial obligations.

GoldBod reaffirmed its position that it has no outstanding loan or overdraft arrangement with the Bank of Ghana or any other financial institution.
