Health Ministry extends reporting deadline to August 31

The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for health professionals recently recruited and posted to various districts to report to their assigned places of work.

The new deadline is August 31, 2026, with the Ministry stressing that this will be the final extension for all affected professionals.

The Ministry said some successful applicants have already completed their interviews and screening, reported to their assigned facilities and begun the process of being captured on the payroll. Some of these professionals have already started receiving their salaries.

The Ministry has also clarified the recruitment, posting and salary payment procedures following the circulation of what it described as misleading information.

Under the established process, the Ministry first obtains financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance before opening its recruitment portal for eligible health professionals. Applicants then apply to their preferred districts and undergo interviews.

Successful candidates accept their postings and report to their assigned facilities. The facilities subsequently confirm their assumption of duty and submit the required documentation to the Ghana Health Service, Christian Health Association of Ghana and other relevant agencies.

An appointment letter is then issued by the appropriate agency to allow the professional to complete the necessary payroll processes. Once salary input is completed, the facility validates the worker’s details before payment is effected by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.

The Ministry emphasised that all recruited professionals must complete the required procedures before their salaries can be paid, adding that the process is intended to ensure that only duly recruited and verified personnel are captured.

Human Resource Directors and other relevant officials have been directed to speed up the necessary processes to ensure that professionals who have reported for duty are promptly captured and processed for salary payment.

Directors and Managers have also been instructed to use the September 2026 data-entry window to mechanise all eligible professionals who have assumed duty.

Meanwhile, professionals who fail to report by the August 31 deadline without an approved and valid reason risk having their names removed from the recruitment and posting system. Their positions will subsequently be filled through a mop-up exercise scheduled for the first week of September.

The Ministry is therefore urging all affected health professionals to take advantage of the final extension and report to their assigned facilities within the stipulated period.
