Lifestyle — Being in Your 20s

By Zainab Ali

Your 20s are often presented as the period when everything is supposed to come together. You are expected to have a career, make money, find love, become independent and somehow know exactly where your life is heading.

But the reality is very different.

Many young adults are still trying to understand themselves, discover what they want and figure out what direction to take. Some are working jobs they do not enjoy simply because they need an income. Others are changing careers, returning to school, starting businesses or trying to recover from decisions they made earlier.

Social media can make this pressure even worse. You see people your age buying cars, travelling, getting married, starting businesses and achieving major milestones. It can make you feel as though you are falling behind.

But life does not follow one universal timeline.

Someone may achieve financial success at 23 while another person may discover their passion at 29. Someone may get married young, while another person may choose to remain single until they are ready. Neither person is automatically ahead of the other.

The important thing is to remember that progress does not always look impressive from the outside. Sometimes progress is simply surviving a difficult period, learning from your mistakes or finding the courage to start again.

Your 20s do not have to be perfect. They are allowed to be confusing, exciting, painful and unpredictable.

You do not need to have your entire life figured out. You just need to keep moving, learning and becoming the person you want to be.
