Minister For Works Threatens To Blacklist Non-Performing Drain-Dredging Contractors

The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has cautioned that the government will blacklist and terminate contracts of contractors who fail to deliver on drain-dredging and other infrastructure projects across the country.

According to him, Ghanaians deserve value for money for their taxes and that the Ministry will no longer tolerate abandonment of sites, shoddy work and unnecessary delays.

Speaking at the close of a three-day sector-wide retreat in Accra, Mr. Ibrahim disclosed that the leadership of the Ministry, including the Chief Director and Deputy Minister, will inspect all 76 projects undertaken by the Ministry to verify progress on the ground.

The caution comes amid the government’s renewed flood control efforts under the Greater Accra Resilient and Integrated Development (GARID) project and the nationwide desilting exercise.
