NADMO proposes alternative livelihoods for farmers along the White Volta Basin to curb losses from Bagre Dam spillage.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is proposing alternative livelihood for farmers along the White Volta basin to reduce losses caused by the recurring Bagre Dam spillage.

Northern Regional Chief Disaster Control Officer, Iddrisu Abubakari Ziblim, said farmers should be supported to relocate their farming activities to safer areas, with improved inputs to sustain their production.

The annual spillage from the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso continues to destroy farmlands .

According to him, relocating farmers and providing them with alternative livelihoods would not only reduce losses but also help prevent humanitarian crises during spillage periods.
