The Savannah Regional Police Command, with support from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit, has dismantled a robbery gang suspected to be behind the robbery of two Mobile Money vendors at the Buipe Cattle Market in the Savannah Region.

The incident occurred on June 29, 2026, when the two vendors were reportedly attacked by the suspected robbers. An amount of GH¢430,000 was allegedly stolen during the operation.

Following investigations into the robbery, the Savannah Regional Police Command, working closely with the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit, mounted an operation aimed at identifying and apprehending members of the gang.

The police subsequently arrested suspected members of the group as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the robbery and recover the stolen money.

The arrests are expected to assist investigators in establishing the full extent of the gang’s activities and determining whether the suspects are connected to other robbery incidents in the region.

The police have reiterated their commitment to protecting residents and businesses while pursuing individuals involved in violent and organised criminal activities.

Members of the public have also been encouraged to provide relevant information to the police to support investigations and help prevent similar incidents.

The Buipe robbery highlights the security risks faced by Mobile Money vendors, who often handle large amounts of cash in the course of their business. Strengthened security measures and increased vigilance among vendors, customers and the wider public remain important in combating such crimes.
