YEA launches electric motorcycle delivery initiative for Ghanaian youth

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale, has announced plans to create more than 10,000 permanent jobs for young Ghanaians through a new electric motorcycle delivery initiative.

The programme, described as the first-ever YEA EV Delivery Brigade, is expected to provide employment opportunities for young people interested in the delivery services sector.

According to the agency, more than 10,000 electric motorcycles have been secured to support the initiative, with opportunities expected to benefit both young men and women across the country.

The programme is being designed around a structured, regulated and uniformed delivery service system that will operate across all 16 regions of Ghana.

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to employment while introducing young people to opportunities within Ghana’s growing delivery and logistics sector.

The YEA says the programme forms part of its commitment to creating sustainable employment opportunities for the youth and has expressed confidence that the initiative will translate its promise into tangible jobs.

The agency has indicated that the initiative will target approximately 5,000 young men and 3,000 young women, alongside other beneficiaries, as it works towards its goal of creating more than 10,000 jobs.

The electric motorcycle component also represents a move towards incorporating cleaner mobility solutions into Ghana’s delivery industry while providing young people with new avenues for earning a livelihood.

Further details on recruitment, eligibility and the rollout of the programme are expected to be announced by the Youth Employment Agency.
